Stokin' the Fire BBQ Festival
August 24-25, 2007... 2 days... more than 70 professional BBQers... more than 50 amateurs All competing for cash, prizes, and bragging rights at Birmingham's Sloss Furnace. This is a sanctioned event by the Kansas City Barbeque Society so you know it is going to be good.
At the event you will be able to enjoy music all day on the "Hog Wild" Stage, you can buy and devour BBQ from nationally appreciated and enjoyed BBQ conesours, be taught and entertained by demonstrations from chefs from some of Birmingham's best restaurants, by Southern Living's "BBQ on Tour" chef, Char-Broil, and Sara Lee.
You will also have the opportunity to visit the "Sloss Store" to purchase and admire sculpture and art created by the Sloss Metal Artists that is surely one-of-a-kind.
Kids are welcome and can be entertained at the Kid's Zone water tower stage and particpate in arts and crafts activities.
Stokin' the Fire hours will be be from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m on Saturday.
Admission to the festival is $10 per day for adults or $15 for an advance, two-day pass. Kids ages 5-12 are $5 per day. Children under 5 are free.
All net proceeds will support the expansion and restoration of Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark.
